The Women Leadership Forum of JKKN College of Arts & Science (Autonomous) organized an Awareness Program on Menstrual Health & Hygiene on 14th August 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Senthuraja Hall.

The program was managed by Dr. N. Latha (Head, Physics) and Mrs. M. Umarani (Head, BBA) and witnessed the active participation of 210 students, faculty members, and staff. The session was led by Dr. K. Jyothi Natarajan, M.D., D.G.O., Ashok Krishna Hospital, Erode, who delivered an insightful lecture on menstrual health, addressing myths and misconceptions while emphasizing safe hygiene practices, the use of modern products, and early detection of health issues.

Students actively engaged in the Q&A session, clarifying doubts and sharing perspectives, which made the program highly interactive and impactful. Practical demonstrations on menstrual hygiene and safe disposal methods further enhanced awareness. Despite initial hesitation among participants due to cultural sensitivity, the stigma-free and supportive environment encouraged open discussions.

The program successfully helped participants understand the significance of menstrual hygiene, identify proper practices, and gain confidence to discuss menstrual health without hesitation. Both students and faculty expressed positive feedback, highlighting the need for more such initiatives.

The event concluded on a strong note, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to holistic well-being, women empowerment, and creating a stigma-free campus culture.
