The NSS Unit of J.K.K. Nataraja College of Arts and Science (Autonomous) successfully organized a special program to observe International Yoga Day on 20th June 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage students to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Palanisamy, NSS Programme Officer, who emphasized the need for mindfulness and physical fitness through regular yoga practice.
Dr. M.P. Poonguzhali, Vice Principal, highlighted the mental and physical health benefits of yoga in her address, followed by insightful thoughts shared by the Chief Guest, Dr. T. Hemalatha, Head of the Department of Microbiology. She encouraged students to focus on holistic wellness and the importance of regular physical activity.
A live yoga demonstration was conducted by Mr. N. Sowreesguhan, a student from the Department of B.Com., who led the participants through various yoga asanas. The session was both educational and interactive, drawing enthusiastic participation from the students.
More than 50 NSS volunteers actively took part in the event, along with faculty members, NSS officers, and Heads of Departments. The event was compered by Mr. A. Kumar, Assistant Professor of Tamil, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. R. Poongodi, NSS Programme Officer.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking a respectful and patriotic end to the meaningful celebration. The initiative was well-received and appreciated by all participants for its organization and impact.
