Wordsmith to Web: Hands-on Training on Story Writing and Digital Publishing

About This Event
The Department of English, J.K.K. Nataraja College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Komarapalayam, organized a hands-on training programme titled “Wordsmith to Web: Hands-on Training on Story Writing and Digital Publishing” on 01 October 2026 from 10.00 AM to 3.30 PM at Senthuraja Hall. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing learners’ creative writing skills and introducing them to the growing opportunities in digital publishing.

Mrs. S. Nivetha, Digital Writer associated with Pratilipi, Kuku, Amazon Kindle, and Pocket Novel, served as the resource person. She shared her practical experience in storytelling, creative writing, and digital publishing. The training provided learners with valuable insights into developing story ideas, creating interesting characters and plots, writing poems and short stories, and preparing literary content for digital platforms.
The programme included practical sessions on storytelling, finding creative story ideas, and writing for websites and social media platforms. Learners were encouraged to draw inspiration from everyday experiences, personal observations, emotions, imagination, and social situations. Through interactive activities, they developed their own creative ideas and transformed them into poems and short stories. The resource person also introduced learners to various digital publishing platforms and explained the process of presenting their literary works to online audiences.

A major achievement of the programme was the successful publication of learners’ creative works on the Pratilipi app. The participating learners published their own poems and short stories, gaining practical experience in digital publishing and an opportunity to showcase their creativity to a wider audience. This hands-on experience helped learners develop confidence, creativity, and interest in pursuing digital writing and literary opportunities.
The programme successfully achieved its objectives by bridging the gap between creative writing and digital publishing. Learners gained a better understanding of storytelling techniques, improved their creative writing skills, learned about digital publishing platforms, and gained confidence in expressing their ideas through written content. The programme also encouraged learners to explore digital platforms as a means of creative expression and literary development.

Overall, the “Wordsmith to Web” hands-on training programme was a meaningful and enriching learning experience for the learners of the Department of English. The practical guidance provided by Mrs. S. Nivetha and the successful publication of learners’ literary works on Pratilipi made the programme particularly valuable. The event inspired learners to develop their writing abilities and explore new opportunities in the field of digital literature and publishing.
