Hands-on Workshop on Power BI and Data Analytics
The Department of Commerce CA and BBA, JKKN College of Arts & Science (Autonomous) – Self-Finance, Komarapalayam, successfully organized a two-day “Hands-on Workshop on Power BI and Data Analytics” on 10th and 11th August 2026 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the CS Lab. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing learners’ practical knowledge of Business Analytics, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power BI. Mr. S. Alaudeen Basha, Director, ALBN Securities Private Limited, Chennai, served as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. The workshop provided participants with practical exposure to data cleaning, sorting, filtering, essential Excel functions, Pivot Tables, data analysis, business KPIs, and data visualization.

Learners were also introduced to the fundamentals of Power BI, Power Query, data transformation, data modelling, relationships, and interactive dashboard development. Through hands-on activities using real-time business datasets, participants developed dashboards covering sales, profit, regional performance, product categories, monthly trends, and customer analysis. Quiz sessions, interactive learning activities, doubt clarification, and a mini-project enabled learners to reinforce their understanding and apply analytical concepts practically. The workshop significantly enhanced the learners’ analytical thinking, data visualization, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills. Participants actively engaged in the sessions and demonstrated keen interest in developing industry-relevant analytical competencies.

Feedback was collected from the participants, and the learners appreciated the practical approach, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities provided during the workshop. The programme successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application and motivated learners to utilize Excel and Power BI for business analysis and decision-making. Overall, the two-day workshop was successfully conducted and served as a valuable platform for developing employability-oriented skills aligned with current industry requirements.
