When postgraduate study is actually worth it
Be specific rather than aspirational.
Do it if:
You want to teach. College teaching requires a postgraduate qualification and the applicable qualifying examinations. There is no route around this.
Your target role specifies it. Research, specialist technical and several government notification categories do.
You want genuine depth in a subject you have found you enjoy. This is the best reason and the most under-used one.

Students often expect postgraduate study to be "more of the same, harder". It is not — the shape of the work changes.
Narrower and deeper. You go from a broad subject to one part of it. Content you skimmed at undergraduate level becomes a whole paper.
